You no longer need an expensive dip machine to perform chest dips. Chest dips also increase the stability and strength of your shoulder joints, which play an integral role in helping your entire body with the support of bars. In addition to strengthening your chest, this body weight chest workout can help bulk up your biceps and sculpt your arms. Chest DipsĬhest dips are an excellent upper body workout that targets different muscle groups at the same time. Now let your arms move forward to the original position in a controlled movement.Next, pull the band handles towards you until you touch the chest. Now grab the ends of the resistance band (you should feel the tension building up in the resistance bands).Get your resistance band and attach it to a strong anchor point in front of you.Sit down on the floor or a flat bench on a floor level. With a looped resistance band or ones with handles, you can perform resistance band rows at home or anywhere you want. This will help you achieve the same workout results with a resistance band as you would using a cable crossover machine. Indeed, it is a compound workout that targets the upper pectoral muscles, lower pectoral muscles, and multiple muscle groups. Resistance band rows are a great cable crossover alternative because they train everything from your shoulders to the chest and upper back muscles. While it’s challenging to beat the cable crossovers for muscle mass-inducing effectiveness, using a good resistance band makes it easier to work out in your home gym and comes with many benefits. Resistance Band RowsĪ resistance band row is one of the best cable crossover alternatives for building muscles in your chest and back without using the cable crossover machine or weights. Once the hands are in line with the chest, carefully push them back to the original position. At this point, you will feel your shoulder blades squeezing together.Be sure to keep your elbows slightly bent. Carefully let your arms flare out to the sides. Now pull the hands in front of your chest at about a 90-degree angle. This will build tension on the resistance bands. Grab each handle in each hand and stand upright with your back facing the anchor point. Now attach your resistance band around that anchor point.Find a strong anchor point, such as a hook on a wall, door, or piece of gym equipment. To perform this exercise, you need a pair of high-quality resistance bands and a strong anchor point. That means the setup and concept of a resistance band crossover are almost similar to that of a cable machine. The resistance band crossover exercise is the closest workout to the standard cable crossovers. It is a standard piece of equipment that is versatile, effective, and affordable. Fortunately, there are great cable crossover alternatives that provide the same benefits as the cable crossover machine.Ī resistance band can change how you train in your home gym. However, the crossover machine is a big and costly piece of equipment rarely found in a home gym. This helps achieve better growth in your upper arms and back muscles. Remember, a cable crossover works multiple groups of muscles and your core muscles simultaneously. It offers many benefits for your shoulders, chest, back muscles, lats, and arms. The latter is a compound workout that targets the triceps, shoulders, and chest area.Ĭable crossovers are performed using the Cable Crossover Machine, one of the most efficient pieces of workout equipment for upper bodybuilding. Remember, cable crossovers are different from the bench presses. It is a workout favored by most bodybuilders as it does wonders for the strengthening and definition of your chest muscle groups. The cable crossover is an isolation exercise that directly targets your chest muscles. One of the best exercises to strengthen your chest muscle groups is the cable crossover exercise. Some of these exercises isolate chest muscles and others are compound movements that target different muscle groups and multiple joints simultaneously. ![]() Just like all other muscle groups in your body, if you intend to increase the size and strength of your chest, you must work it from different angles using various chest exercises. This is because if you intend to build an impressive torso, you need more than the bench-related workouts, which is why we came out with a list of cable crossover alternatives exercises. But treating it as the only chest builder workout may be counter-productive in the long run. The bench press workouts have long been the go-to option for bulking up the chest, and there’s no doubt it’s an effective exercise to include in any workout routine designed to pump up your pecs. ![]()

![]() ![]() These are the people who would blindly choose the Daytona over the Zenith.Zenith together with Hodinkee unveils the new Zenith Chronomaster Original Limited Edition which is the result of a collaboration between the two brands. People who have entire collections made only of Rolexes. Rolex is one of the few brands that attracts Rolex fans. If you're buying watches to satisfy the third category, that's a personal issue. Those that do comment on my watch generally fall into a few categories, the most common of which being: the random "nice watch" person who couldn't spot a Rolex if you beat them with it the watch enthusiast, in which case it's likely they're familiar with the brand I'm wearing and tools who only care about major brands like Rolex. Most importantly, it took owning a Rolex to understand that people generally don't care about what watch I'm wearing. The only reason I can say this now is because I've owned multiple Rolex watches and got over the need to be seen wearing the Daytona over Zenith's "homage" (though it can be argued that Rolex owes Zenith for the Daytona's popularity thanks to the Daytona's automatic movement made by Zenith). However, had you asked me this same question a year ago, I'd have chosen the Daytona for the same reason people ask this question: people are hesitant to buy a watch that looks like a Rolex but isn't because they are concerned with brand image. If you don't care about owning a Rolex, the Zenith is the better watch, technologically speaking. (Tangentially, I think the Sub will get the PCL treatment next.) However, the Zenith wears nicer and can pass off as being more formal versus the Rolex's lipstick-on-a-pig approach of throwing polished center links ("PCL") on their sport watches. I will be honest and say I have way more complaints with Zenith's design choices than I do with the Daytona, and the Daytona's clasp is infinitely better than the Zenith's. ![]() The Zenith is the nicer looking watch (subjective) with better movement (objective). Rolex takes pride in "staying true to its cores" as a tool watch company and kept the back outside of view, and as Rolex becomes less of a tool watch company and much, much more of a luxury brand that people chase after, this principle is working against their favor now. The 1/10 sec feature is like a huge slap in the face, the display at the back is absolutely stunning. Zenith CM sport however, has many other things going for it. Look at the image for “gothic” and compare it with this one, you’ll see what I mean. If a typeface isn’t created with “maru” and “kaku” versions, you’ll most often find that the standard “gothic” style incorporates the “kaku” qualities. It’s not quite as intuitive as “maru” but it represents the opposite style: sharp and pointed corners. Maru is great for quick readability and less-imposing typographic applications. It’s because of this that most “maru” typefaces have, you guessed it, rounded corners. Maru is most often combined with a “gothic” or sans-serif style of typography. Often, this style of typeface is used in digital application as well as designs that embody modernity. These typefaces, similar to western sans-serif fonts, often have consistent stroke-weights as well as more simplistic strokes. If “mincho” means “serif”, what do you think “gothic” means? That’s right, sans-serif! ![]() It represents the “pause” in the brush stroke as the writer prepares to continue the stroke or complete it. Most often it can be found on the top or top-right edge of the stroke. You’ll also notice that mincho typefaces often have, what appears to be, a small triangle nestled into the stroke. Visually, the “Mincho” style of typography is comprised of contrasting vertical and horizontal strokes. If all of this is too much to remember, just think of “mincho” as the western version of “serif” and you’ll be good. As it’s based off of an ancient writing method, the style is equally historic. Therefore, extraction and smelting from its ore are required. It doesn’t exist in nature in its most basic form. It still has a big impact on the industry today since it is easy to make. When talking about diverse metal kinds, copper and its alloys are crucial. Native copper is the uncombined form of copper that is found in copper sulfides like chalcocite, copper carbonates like malachite and azurite, and the copper oxide cuprite mineral. Aluminum is therefore immensely useful for producing goods like freshwater boats.īecause of its color and chemistry, copper is infamous. However, if it comes into touch with water, it won’t corrode. Aluminum will rust if it comes into contact with salt. The only metal that, by definition, “rusts” is iron. Even though it doesn’t rust, it will oxidize. It is the most widely used non-ferrous (iron-free) metal worldwide. ![]() This is great because it can be separated using Eddy Current Separators, which are devices that separate non-magnetic material from scrap metal shredder waste if you have a lot of scrap metal.įurthermore, aluminum is a fairly popular metal despite having a little more complex manufacturing process than some of the other metals. This is due to its characteristics.Īnother noteworthy characteristic is that it is non-magnetic due to its extremely low magnetic susceptibility, which is approximately 10 billion times lower than that iron. It is the most common metal on Earth, its use permeates a wide range of global applications. These metals are durable, lightweight, and useful. When aluminum is exposed to oxygen, it forms a microscopic film that coats it and stops any further corrosion. ![]() The two most significant characteristics of aluminum are its extremely low density, which makes it extremely light, its electrical conductivity, its ability to alloy with a majority of metals, and its extremely high resistance to corrosion through a process called passivation. Because of this, natural aluminum is frequently found in minerals of all different types, the most common of which is bauxite. The problem with natural aluminum is that it is very reactive, making it exceedingly difficult to discover. It is more prevalent than iron since it is the third most abundant element on the surface of the Earth in terms of mass. ![]() The color of aluminum is a distinctive bright silver, and it is a soft, ductile metal. More than 90% of the metals produced are ferrous. This iron is frequently used to create steel and other alloys. Pig iron is created in first-stage blast furnaces and can afterward be refined to create pure iron. Iron is a hefty metal that is typically used to create the frames and bases of massive machines because it lends stiffness and dampens vibrations.Ī blast furnace is used to extract iron from its ores. Due to its extremely high melting point, cast iron is used to make wood stoves. Iron is used in cookware because, when combined with hot oil, its porous surface prevents sticking. After additional refinement, the necessary iron is recovered and combined with the supplementary carbon to produce steel and other valuable metals. Hematite and magnetite, the most prevalent types of ore, are used to extract the crude iron metal, which is then converted into pig iron using a substance called coke, a high-carbon fuel. Since iron rapidly combines with oxygen to form iron oxides, one of which is known as rust, finding pure iron is quite difficult. ![]() ![]() ![]() The laptop-like keyboard features large, comfortable keys that deliver the perfect bounce every time for fast, accurate typing.įorget hunting around the screen or in menus to perform simple actions-Folio Touch features a full row of iPadOS shortcut keys for one-tap access to popular functions including volume and media controls, brightness levels, and more. Once the plants are blooming, it is beneficial to apply preventative fungicide applications using chemicals that are effective at controlling Botrytis. Prevent Botrytis by providing adequate air movement, avoiding overhead irrigation while plants are blooming and watering early in the day. Botrytis may occur on dead flower petals and can quickly attack the entire plant. Sound irrigation practices and/or using preventative fungicide drench applications can prevent root roots. Root rots caused by the pathogens Phythium and Rhizoctonia are likely to occur when bulbs are grown under wet conditions. This coincides with the period of time the plants naturally derive their food from the nutrient reservoirs of the bulbs. Controlled-release fertilizers work rather well for lily crops, as it often takes a couple of weeks for the fertilizer to start releasing. elemental nitrogen per yard of growing medium. Many growers incorporate time-release fertilizers into the growing medium prior to planting at a rate equivalent to 1 lb. Water-soluble fertilizers can be applied as needed using 100- to 150-ppm nitrogen or with a constant liquid fertilization program using rates of 50 to 75-ppm nitrogen with each irrigation. As they reach 2-3 inches (5-7.5cm) tall, fertilizers can be applied to the crop. ![]() Early in production, fertility should not be an issue. Once the flower buds are visible, the growing media should never dry out, as overly dry conditions at this stage could cause the flower buds to abort. When providing irrigation, water thoroughly and let them dry out slightly between waterings. The amount of irrigation can be increased when the shoots are 3-6 inches (7.5-15cm) tall, as the stem roots are usually well formed at this time. Watering must be carried out sparingly until they have emerged. ![]() A proper planting depth is important to provide adequate stem root development, which serves as the primary source of nutrition and moisture uptake as well as supporting and anchoring the plant.ĭuring emergence, uniform moisture is important. Although some roots grow from the bulb, a majority of the roots develop on the stem between the bulb and the top of the soil surface (stem roots). Place the bulb(s) near the center of the pot with the bulb(s) pointed up, not sideways, to help the stems come up near the center. There should be a minimum of 1-inch (2.5cm) of growing mix under the bulb. Asiatic lily bulbs must be planted deeply with a minimum of 2 inches (5cm) of growing mix above the bulb. Most commercially available peat- or bark-based growing mixes work well, provided there is adequate drainage. Asiatic lilies perform best when grown in a moist, well-drained, porous growing medium with a slightly acidic pH: 5.8-6.4. The number of bulbs used depends on the container size, customer specifications, etc. Bulb dipping helps to re-hydrate the bulbs, bringing them to a uniform moisture level. It is recommended to submerse the bulbs in water for at least 10 minutes before planting them. As soon as the bulbs have thawed, carefully separate them from the peat moss packaging. Warmer storage temperatures and storing them for extended time periods may cause bulbs to sprout prior to planting. It is important to gradually defrost bulbs that are frozen and thaw them at 55º-60✯ (13º-16✬) for several days before potting. Frozen bulbs can be stored for up to two weeks in a cooler at 34º-36º F (1º-2✬). It is used to help retain bulb moisture, preventing drying during storage and shipping.
